COMMUNITY UPDATES
Thank you to everyone who supported the Grand Blanc Township Parks Millage. Your investment allows us to continue enhancing Bicentennial Park and expanding our pathway network throughout the Township.
We’re excited to announce that the Embury/Cook Road Pathway is now complete, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony planned. The Perry Road Pathway remains on schedule to open later this fall as construction of the pathway bridge near Vassar Road is completed.
Bicentennial Park is having another successful summer, hosting several softball tournaments that bring nearly 3,000 visitors to the area, providing an economic impact for local restaurants, hotels, and businesses. A $1.2 million dollar upgrade to the park is currently underway. The Park may be closed periodically due to construction. The pathways will remain open.
The Grand Blanc Township Police Department will launch its Citizens Police Academy on Monday, September 14. The eight-week program will meet Mondays from 6:00–8:00 p.m. through November 2. Space is limited, and interested residents can register at parks.gbtgov.com.
The Fire Department continues to make significant progress as well. The Township recently completed its ISO fire protection resurvey, with updated ratings expected soon. The department is also moving forward with state Medical First Responder licensing, allowing firefighters to provide licensed emergency medical care before ambulance arrival later this fall.
Additional highlights include welcoming a new full-time firefighter, Javon Johnson, onboarding two new part-time firefighters with several additional candidates advancing through the hiring process, receiving new ballistic protective equipment through the generosity of the Hundred Club, presenting alongside the Police Department at the Mass Violence Summit in West Bloomfield, and continuing to pursue multiple federal grants to support staffing, equipment, and apparatus replacement.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Grand Blanc Township.
